GOP gives new attorney general 30 day ultimatum to release Epstein files

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) warned newly elevated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche that he has 30 days to release remaining Epstein files under the Epstein Files Transparency Act before facing criminal liability.

Blanche, President Donald Trump's former lawyer in classified documents cases, replaced fired Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The legislation requires the DOJ to publish Epstein files with limited redactions, but the department has withheld millions of documents.

Bipartisan lawmakers previously sought to hold Bondi criminally liable for legal violations, threatening contempt charges and daily fines. Those threats now extend to Blanche. Recent comments suggest Blanche may continue stonewalling Epstein file releases.

On the Katie Miller Podcast, he dismissed claims Epstein worked for foreign intelligence despite evidence to the contrary and claimed not to understand what an Epstein "client list" means, raising concerns about his willingness to comply with transparency requirements.
